Manager Master Series

Developing an evergreen solution to leadership scarcity

BDS needed to upskill managers. After analyzing what executives believed to be the most in-demand skills, I created a library of over 40 courses, each focusing on a specific proficiency.

Kickstarting the Learner Experience 

Our objective was three-fold: stoke learner curiosity, customize material to BDS, and boost resource accessibility. To do this, I designed an eye-catching landing page in our LMS that focused on skills every BDS leader would need.

Lighting the Flame Within

Each skill page not only hosts courses created by me, but an array of podcasts, videos, and articles that expand on the ideas I talk about. The goal was to stoke learner appetites with light microlessons and mid-sized eLearning (<20 min), and offer long-form learning through supplemental assets. 

An Ever-Growing Library

As we rolled out the master series, more executives reached out requesting other skills and topics to be covered. I worked closely with SMEs during this time coordinating meetings, brainstorming outlines, and editing courses to bolster the program.

Summer 2022 was the first time our company offered a training program for those seeking a CDL, and we were successful in hiring eight new drivers on the path to a CDL.

Change Management Training

Here's an example of one of the Manager Master Series courses

BDS was going through a merger. We needed change management training to smoothen the process. 

This course was designed with busy outpost managers in mind. I planned to boost engagement by using motion graphics and leaving a breadcrumb of facts for learners to digest incrementally. 

Due to the often bumpy nature of the topic, I created a "smooth" version outlining step-by-step SOP, but also added "what if" scenarios to further prepare managers for potential turbulence.

This course was added to the company operations manual and is now used to train all incoming managers and supervisors.

Commercial Driver's License Training

A Long-Term Collaborative That Increased Efficiency

Summer 2021 was inefficient. The cost of operations per guest was at an all-time high, and it was due to a bottleneck in transportation. Simply put, our company had a training need for CDL drivers.

After analyzing company needs, I collaborated with the lead mechanic and the director of operations to create a comprehensive, six-course learning path for CDL trainees to become certified and obtain their passenger endorsement.

The sheer volume of knowledge required weekly meetings and an immense amount of research. From start-to-finish, the project took three months to complete. 

Summer 2022 was the first time our company offered a training program for those seeking a CDL, and we were successful in hiring eight new drivers on the path to a CDL.
